Samsung’s Ultra phones have used 108MP cameras since 2020’s Galaxy S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra, capable of churning out full-resolution 108MP shots or pixel-binned 12MP snaps. Now, a Korean outlet has added fuel to recent rumors that the Galaxy S23 Ultra could adopt a 200MP primary camera.
Samsung confirmed with camera partners that it will bring a 200MP camera sensor to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, ET News reported. The outlet adds that the Ultra model will be the only device in the S23 lineup to offer a 200MP camera.
We’ve heard unsubstantiated suggestions that a 200MP camera could come to a future Samsung flagship for roughly a year now after Samsung debuted the 200MP HP1 sensor in September 2021. But it definitely seems like there’s more credence to these latest reports and rumors.

Aside from the ET News claim, noted tipster Ice Universe asserted last month that the Galaxy S23 Ultra would gain a 200MP camera. The leaker further suggested that Samsung would use the unreleased HP2 camera sensor instead of the previously released HP1 and HP3 sensors.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra wouldn’t be the first phone with a 200MP camera though, as the Motorola X30 Pro landed in China last week. The Moto device can either shoot at 200MP or use pixel-binning tech to shoot at 12.5MP or 50MP. We’re guessing that Samsung’s own 200MP phone would offer similar functionality.
