Suriya’s Jai Bhim and Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham have made it to the Oscars 2022 long list. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences released the list of 276 films eligible for the awards this year on Thursday night. Critically acclaimed films like Jai Bhim and Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham are the only Indian films to feature on this list.
According to media reports, voting for the films eligible for the 94th Academy Awards will start from January 27 this year. The final nominations are said to be announced on February 8. The Oscars 2022 are set to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on March 27.

Jai Bhim is based on the true story of a case fought by Justice K Chandru in 1993. Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea) is a period film based on Kunjali Marakkar who belonged to the 16th century. The film won three National Awards at the 67th National Awards last year.
