Joe Lycett, 34, has joked about looking “like a right t**t” following the revelation yesterday that Rishi Sunak, 42, is now Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The comedian had previously claimed that the former Chancellor would “never” end up in the role.

Joe took to Twitter yesterday to show his 1.2 million followers he knows how to make fun of himself with a hilarious new post.

The star shared a clip from the BBC programme Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, where he had previously appeared as a guest.

“Well it was nice to hear from Rishi Sunak but he’s not going to be Prime Minister,” Joe said in the video.

“So you may as well have interviewed Peter Andre,” the star joked, referencing the popular singer and television personality.

On Monday, it was announced Rishi would become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The politician, who formerly served as Chancellor of the Exchequer under Boris Johnson, will be the third Tory Prime Minister in less than two months and the fifth in six years.

He was formally appointed today following a meeting with King Charles at Buckingham Palace.

His appointment marks a dramatic U-turn for the Conservative party, who elected Liz Truss over Rishi just six weeks ago.

“When President Obama was ELECTED TWICE I could feel the collective emotion from here in the UK. I think if Rishi was elected by the electorate I would feel something deeper.” (sic)

“Does that mean Peter Andre will be PM next?” Betsy joked, while ThisName replied: “Peter has to wait his turn until after everyone else in the country has had their go.”

Jason joined in on the fun, writing: “You can spin it, like all the hopeless politicians, or start campaigning for Peter Andre to be PM, and wouldn’t that be great!

“Just put that down to experience and pick another rising star to throw your support behind, I hear good things about Jacob Rees-Mogg…” he quipped.

“There’s plenty of time left this year for Peter Andre’s leadership bid,” added Ben.

“Ha ha ha. Not Joe you just said what we all thought,” Janet commented, attempting to reassure the comedian. “I mean Mr. Andre might last longer and see the pound climb.” (sic)

The new Prime Minister has already announced he is keeping on a number of top Tories in the cabinet, including Jeremy Hunt as Chancellor, Dominic Raab as Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary and James Cleverly as Foreign Secretary.

He has also controversially re-appointed Suella Braverman as Home Secretary just six days after she was forced to resign for sending sensitive official documents from her personal email.
