Latest Job Listing Suggests PlayStation Is Reinforcing Its PC Strategy

After years of providing exclusivity to fans with the PlayStation consoles, it seems like Sony is going all in on providing similar experiences in PC gaming as well.

Over the past few years, Sony has dabbled in releasing ports of some of the most popular PlayStation titles on PC through platforms like Steam. So far, we have seen games like God of War, the Uncharted series and many more head over to the PC world. However, PlayStation isn’t done yet, and the company’s latest job listing sheds some light on its attempts to expand its library of PC games.

The new job listing based in San Mateo, California on Sony’s website revolves around the position of Senior Director, PC Planning and Strategy at PlayStation Global. According to the listing, Sony’s currently on the lookout for candidates, who will be working on PlayStation’s expansion on the PC side by implementing plans and “identifying future sectors & partnerships for commercial growth.”

The listing even highlighted some of the commercial partners that Sony will be working in close connection with. This includes platforms like Steam and Epic Games.

With Sony trying to widen their horizons, it’s very likely that the company is looking to port more of the platform’s biggest titles that have made PC players jealous over the years. So far, we have seen characters like Aloy, Kratos, Nathan Drake and many more, jump ship to PC after serving time on consoles like the PS4 and PS5, and in the near future, we might see more names that have become synonymous with the PlayStation brand, show up on platforms like Steam and Epic Games.

It’s unclear what the average timeline might be for Sony, in order to release a particular AAA PlayStation title on PC. So far, games like God of War and Horizon was ported to PC 3-4 years after their release on the PS4, and while Sony is planning on porting more games, it’s very unlikely that the timeframe between the game’s release on a PlayStation console and PC will decrease anytime soon.
