Courier LBC Express Inc. has announced a five-day suspension of its parcel and cargo forwarding services from July 12 to 16 to address backlogs while installing safety reinforcements.
LBC is moving to equip its branches with protective shields, install disinfection booths, launch contactless options and conduct frequent rapid testing of employees.
“While putting all these safety and logistics measures in place, our capacities were exceeded and we have created some backlogs,” the company said.
During this five-day service interruption, all LBC branches have ceased accepting cargo shipments for forwarding to all destinations.
LBC’s money remittance and bill payment services, however, will remain available to customers across all its 1,500 branches nationwide and through its online platform.
Affected areas include: NCR, North Luzon, South Luzon (All Domestic Cargo), Visayas (Domestic Cargo to NCR, North & South Luzon), and Mindanao (Domestic Cargo to NCR, North & South Luzon).
The company stated that normal operations would resume on July 17.
LBC has been operational all throughout the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ), the company said.
“Reinforcements such as three new warehouses have already recently been opened, to ensure social distancing and other protocols, and facilities are also being equipped with protective shields, disinfection booths, while new online touch-points to provide contactless options are being launched,” LBC said.
“LBC continues to serve all customers, in the Philippines and across the globe, to the best of its capabilities and within government mandates and regulations; taking all necessary safety and health precautions to ensure employee and public safety.”
