Leak Suggests Street Fighter 6 Open Beta Coming Later In April

With Street Fighter 6 set to launch in June, fans who missed out on the previous betas may not have to wait too long to get their hands on the game. As spotted by Ryan ‘fubarduck’ Harvey, Japanese streamer Eiko Kano revealed that an open beta will be available later this month. A translator for GameSpot also watched the footage and says that Kano mentioned that a “trial” version of Street Fighter 6 will be available later in April.

“Eiko Kano, a talent and streamer who is regularly invited to Capcom TV, casually mentioned that Street Fighter 6 will hold an open beta later this month while streaming Dead by Daylight,” Harvey tweeted. “He didn’t seem aware that this wasn’t officially announced yet.”

Street Fighter 6’s previous betas had a more limited number of people invited to test out the servers and gameplay, but an open beta in April will give Capcom time to properly stress-test the game before it releases on June 2. Fans have also spotted back-end updates to the Street Fighter 6 beta on Steam, which could also hint at Capcom preparing the game client for a wider global rollout.

This is all worth taking with a grain of salt until Capcom officially confirms an open beta. The October and December betas were great showcases for how different Street Fighter 6 feels from previous entries in the series, thanks to the new Drive System gameplay and approachable control schemes. Access for the second closed beta had some strict rules attached, as due to the number of people who sold their access codes for the first beta, Capcom took a sterner stance on registrations.

Street Fighter 6 will be available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S, and for more details on the highly anticipated fighting game, you can check out GameSpot’s feature on everything that we know about Street Fighter 6.
