BioShock is a fan favourite title and it has been a very long time since we heard anything about a new instalment to the franchise. The last mainstream instalment we received was way back in 2013 and post that we have only got remastered versions of existing titles. Players have been aching for any information they can get related to the next instalment for the classic series.
What we know is that a BioShock title is in development and was confirmed all the way back in 2019. We also know that 2K Games and Cloud Chamber will be working together to develop this title, but that is all. Through a series of leaks by Oops Leaks, we have received plenty of information for the upcoming title, they have posted everything they know about the game on a Twitter thread.
Before sharing anything, the leaker has clearly stated that all the information they are providing should not be taken at face value. They have received a lot of information about the game from new people, but believe that most of it is bogus news, the user cannot confirm this news as they have lost touch with their original source.
The leaker first felt that the game would be announced during The Game Awards 2021, as the game was confirmed to be in development 2 years back at The Game Awards 2019, but that did not happen. The reason for postponing the announcement was staff reductions in the studio. Around 40 employees working on the game had left the studio. As of now the user does not have an approximate announcement date, but believes the game will not release before 2024.
Coming to the game, the leaker has stated that 2K Games and Take Two Interactive are not rushing development, they believe that the quality of the franchise is to be retained, therefore will take time. The game’s whole and soul is BioShock and they haven’t tried to create a new game or reboot the franchise. The developers will not announce the game or provide a release date until they are completely sure about the product.
As far as the story goes, the game will based in the icy cold region of Antarctica and will have a main campaign that has multiple endings. He then goes on to talk about the artstyle of the title, which has been inspired by Deathloop. The game’s combat style has been enhanced with utilities and combination of abilities. At the moment this is all the leaker knows and will get back with more information later. Player should consume this information with a grain of salt as it comes from a leak.
