LG G7 ThinQ with QHD+ Super Bright Display, AI Camera Launched
LG has today finally announced its latest flagship smartphone the LG G7 ThinQ at an event in New York. The smartphone will be made available in the coming days in South Korea followed by major markets in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia as well. It comes in New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Raspberry Rose color. The company is yet to disclose the pricing of the device. There is another LG G7+ ThinQ variant, the only difference between the two is RAM and storage configuration.
Talking about specifications, the LG G7 ThinQ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with LG UX skin on top. It sports a 6.1” QHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) 19.5:9 FullVision Super Bright IPS Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and brightness of up to 1,000 nits. The display can be viewed easily even under direct sunlight, thanks to its super bright display. The smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. LG G7 ThinQ offers 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM along with 64GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, while the LG G7+ ThinQ offers 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage; the internal storage can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.
For photography, the LG G7 ThinQ comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of two 16MP sensors; the primary camera comes with f/1.6 aperture and 71-degree wide-angle lens along with OIS, phase detection, and laser autofocus, while secondary camera comes with f/1.9 aperture, 107-degree super-wide-angle lens and LED flash support. The camera is powered by LG’s AI camera tech, as well as a smart pixel-binning technology for low-light shots, the AI algorithm adjusts the camera settings automatically when shooting in low light. On the front, it has an 8MP shooter with f/1.9 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens. The front camera also comes with facial recognition technology to unlock the device. It also has Stickers that uses face recognition to generate fun 2D and 3D overlays.
In terms of audio, the LG G7 ThinQ comes with a Boombox speaker that utilizes the internal space of the device as a resonance chamber to deliver double the bass as compared to other phones. It also has Hi-Fi Quad DAC for incredibly rich sound and DTS:X that implements virtual 3D sound for all content and supports up to 7.1 channel audio with earphones.
The smartphone comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button under the volume control to activate Google Assistant with one tap and Google Lens with two, while holding down the button will allow for instant conversations with Google Assistant. It also supports Super Far Field Voice Recognition lets you hear your voice up to 5 metres away. It is an IP68 rated device for dust and water resistance and also meets MIL-STD 810G requirements.
The LG G7 ThinQ is fueled by a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging and Wireless charging support. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C post. It measures 153.2×71.9×7.9mm and it weighs 162 grams.
