Liverpool may fancy their chances, not least because they sit two divisions above their opponents but also in light of Derby’s 2-2 draw with non-league Torquay United in the FA Cup on Sunday. The Rams were relegated from the Championship last term and they currently occupy seventh spot in League One, having beaten fewer than half of the 16 opponents faced so far.
Klopp’s Reds have hardly been flying either, sitting eighth in the Premier League after going close to an unprecedented quadruple last campaign. Sunday’s hard-fought 2-1 win over Tottenham could prove a turning point, however, and the manager’s rowdy celebration after the final whistle told the whole story.
