Longer tweets, paid Blue tick, and more: How Elon Musk is set to change Twitter

It has been a weekend since Elon Musk completed his long-awaited acquisition of Twitter, becoming “Chief Twit.” Now that he owns the microblogging website, Musk is on to revamp the whole platform, touted to introduce some changes that he has talked about for a long, including longer tweets, paid blue tick, and more.
Joining him are his friends and some Tesla engineers, including Jason Calacanis, entrepreneur, and Sriram Krishnan of a61z crypto, who are said to help bring changes to Twitter. So, here’s how Elon Musk is changing the platform we have all bantered on.
A new homepage for logged out users
After reigning Twitter, one of the first orders of business was to change its homepage. Instead of showing a sign-up page, the logged-out users will now be redirected to Explore page showing them the latest trends and news.
“Super Follows” becomes “Subscriptions”
Another change ordered that Musk ordered was to rename its paid monthly subscription to a creator, aka “Super Follows” to “Subscription.”
Pay or lose the Blue tick
The chief twit has directed the employees to change Twitter’s subscription service, Twitter Blue, tying it right into the verification process. The subscription, which costs $4.99, gives users access to undo or edit a tweet and more. Though, per internal correspondence seen by The Verge, Musk plans to increase the cost to $19.99 and make it compulsory for verified users to subscribe to the tier to keep their verification badges.
The new “verified” subscription tier may arrive soon, as the team working on the project has been given an ultimatum of November 7, or they will be sacked.
You may get more than ‘280’ words for a tweet, hints Musk
Twitter’s 280-word limit for a tweet has been complained about, often leaving users to make long threads of several dozen tweets to finish their thoughts. Replying to a thread, Elon tweeted, “My most immediate takeaway from this novella of a thread is that Twitter is *way* overdue for long form tweets!”
The microblogging platform has been working on long-form tweets, much like articles, for a while now. With Elon at the top, the development might speed up, releasing the feature soon.
Reels may get a new competitor in the disguise of an old player – the Vines
The Chief Twit, Elon Musk, recently tweeted a poll on his account, asking people if they should bring the Vine back, and the majority of them want it back. Interestingly, it could come as a feature in the Twitter app, much like Reel is a part of Instagram.
In reply to Musk’s poll, YouTuber Mr Beast tweeted, “If you did that and actually competed with tik tok that’d be hilarious,” with Musk asking what the company could do to make the Vines better than Reels. So, maybe vertical videos are here to rule.
