Many argued that the tennis star should not have been allowed to enter the country based on any medical exemption unless he had been double vaccinated.

In the end, the government ruled for Novak’s deportation, which meant he would not be defending his title at the Australian Open.

In his statement released on Sunday, shortly after his court hearing, the father-of-two expressed his disappointment following his second appeal to remain in the country.
