News of Mahima Chaudhry being diagnosed with breast cancer has sent shock waves throughout the film fraternity and her fans alike. The veteran actress spoke about her journey battling cancer in a video shared on Instagram, as Anupam Kher recorded the video and encouraged her in moments when she broke down.
Anupam Kher was in the United States to shoot for his 525th film when he got in touch with Mahima to ask her to play a role in his movie. That is when he learned that Mahima was battling cancer and being treated for the same. The actors got together to shoot a video where Mahima Chaudhry shares her journey.
Mahima revealed that when Anupam Kher offered her a role in The Signature, Mahima could not turn him down. She also asked him if she should wear a wig to the set and Kher advised that she should do the film the way she is. Mahima then shared with him that she did not know if she had the courage to do so, but Kher said that she was the most courageous person he knew. While talking about this incident, Mahima broke down in tears.
Sharing the video on his Instagram, Anupam Kher wrote, “Story of @mahimachaudhry1 ‘s courage and Cancer: I called #MahimaChaudhry a month back from US to play a very important role in my 525th film #TheSignature. Our conversation turned to her discovering that she has #BreastCancer. What followed is in this candid conversation between us. Her attitude will give hope to so many women all over the world. She wanted me to be part of her disclosure. She calls me an eternal optimist but dearest Mahima! ‘You are my HERO!’” He also shared, “Friends! Send her your love, warmth, wishes, prayers and blessings. She is BACK on sets where she belongs. She is ready to fly. All those producers/directors out there!
