Cadbury Creme Eggs are one of the most popular Easter treats loved for their gooey centre and hard outer shell, and according to one beauty expert, they’re great for your skin. In a recent video on his Instagram account, Celebrity Skin Talk creator Scott Mcglynn (@scottmcglynnofficial) revealed how he uses the white syrupy core to get “glowing skin”.

Scott is a UK based skincare expert who is the host and creator of the Instagram series, Celebrity Skin Talk.

While he is a lover of conventional beauty and self-care rituals, his recent Easter hack uses an unlikely product – the Cadbury Creme Egg.

Demonstrating how to use the chocolatey treat on his face, the social media star revealed that the inside of the egg is “full of sugar syrup which is so good for the skin”.

He explained the many benefits of the creamy core, including exfoliating and anti-ageing results on the face.

Scott said: “If you didn’t know, sugar syrup is really good for removing dead skin cells, making our skin more radiant.”

And while sugar is conventionally known as an ingredient to steer clear of for clear skin, the beauty expert noted that when used topically, it actually acts has natural anti-ageing properties.

The gooey syrup can also be applied to the lips, according to Scott, who pointed out that sugar is a common ingredient in lip scrubs and similar cosmetics.

While the beauty hack means sacrificing the chance to eat the Creme Egg, those who want to try the face mask can nibble the top of the chocolate coating off to expose the white centre.

In the caption of his Video, Scott wrote: “Sugar is one of the best natural beauty ingredients to exfoliate your skin, It’s mild and help remove dead skin. It also helps rejuvenate the skin by cleaning all the dirt from the skin’s pores. With all the dead skin and dirt removed, skin is more radiant and has a healthier glow.”

And an expert at the American Academy of Dermatology agreed that sugar can be used for mechanical exfoliation when used in the form of a scrub. They said: “This type of exfoliation removes the top layer of skin cells. as well as impurities, dirt, and excess oils.”

When used as a liquid, there are other benefits. According to a spokesperson at the Derm Review, sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into the skin.

So applying products with sugar or sugar derivatives can leave people with a more hydrated complexion.
