Scott McTominay

Back in January, Newcastle were eyeing a deal for Scott McTominay amid his struggles for regular action over at Old Trafford.

In the end, the Red Devils decided to keep hold of the Scotland international with Ten Hag wanting to make sure his squad stayed together.

McTominay has long been tipped for a bright future but, at the age of 25, talk of his potential has been consigned to the past. Instead, he’s got to deliver now.

Brutally put, he isn’t good enough. Though a disciplined and astute footballer, he struggles to impose himself in the middle of the park and that was evident against Fulham.

United improved when they put on Fred, who has come on leaps and bounds this term. The same can’t be said for his much-maligned midfield ally, however.
