Man Utd player ratings vs Southampton as Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire score fours | Football | Sport

Luke Shaw – 6

Shaw turned in a steady if unspectacular display against his old club on Saturday afternoon.

The England ace was solid in the first half but endured a rough start to the second half and failed to impact the game going forward at all.

Scott McTominay – 6

McTominay has arguably been United’s most consistent midfielder this season and has taken his game up a notch since Ralf Rangnick took charge.

The Scottish ace turned in his usual all-action display against the Saints, although he did have to watch his step after picking up an early booking.

Paul Pogba – 8

Although Pogba’s second spell at Old Trafford has been littered with inconsistency, the midfielder was at the heart of everything that was positive about Manchester United.

The Frenchman had more of the ball than any other player before the break and went about his business with an assured swagger all afternoon.

When the chips were down for United after the break, Pogba never shied away from the battle and was dogged in his determination to make a difference.

Marcus Rashford – 6

While it was Sancho who stole the show, Rashford put in a lively performance on the right flank.

The England ace continued to show glimpses of his previous form and teed up Sancho for the opening goal – although it did briefly look as though the opportunity had passed.
