Manchester United’s takeover saga saw a dramatic twist on Wednesday night as prospective buyers were given an extension to get their bids for the club in. Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are heading up the parties of the two favourites to take control from the unpopular Glazer family.
They had been set a Wednesday night deadline of 9pm to submit offers, but it is understood that both groups asked for an extension, which was granted by the Raine Bank.
It is now expected that both bids will be received on Thursday, meaning that today could be a hugely significant one for the future of United.
So, will we be any clearer towards knowing who, if anyone, will be taking over the Red Devils by the end of the day? Or could there be yet further twists in the tale?
