Another day goes by with Manchester United fans desperate to hear a breakthrough has finally been made in the protracted sale of the club.

The Glazer family remain locked in negotiations to end their long tenure at the helm of the north west club, but glimmers of hope are beginning to appear.

The two main battling candidate, Sheikh Jassim of Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, have each shown a willingness to put their money where their mouth is and find huge amounts to put on the table.

An eye-watering £6billion valuation from the Glazers has always been an obstacle, but now it appears a breakthrough is being made.

Within the last 24 hours the first signs have emerged that Sheikh Jassim is now willing to meet the figure in order to eliminate Ratcliffe from the standings and finally get his hands on the club.

Regardless, it will not be a smooth ride and countless complexities still lay ahead, not to mention the upcoming summer transfer window.

United have their sights on finally bringing a striker of Harry Kane’s stature to the club in the coming months, while a blockbuster bid comfortably north of £100m for Victor Osimhen has also been mooted.

For now, though, the ownership of the club must swiftly be resolved before grand plans for the future can be made.
