Donny van de Beek’s nightmare spell at Old Trafford could be over, as the midfielder has been offered to Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund, though it would be no surprise for other clubs to enter the race to sign the Dutch midfielder.

There will, of course, be other deals happening behind the scenes and other fringe players, such as goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who will be attracting interest from elsewhere.

Asked if there would be any players sold this month, Rangnick replied: “I don’t know.

“I know which players would want to leave. I know that there are some negotiations with clubs but I am not involved in that. I will probably be posted and made aware if something is happening. We will all have to wait and see what happens.”
