Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy Top the Buzz Charts

2022 saw the arrival of several hits that had us hooked on to our gaming systems for hours. From the challenging environments of Elden Ring to the classic father-son tale in God of War: Ragnarok, the year had all genres going all in to keep us entertained.

As we count the final few hours of 2022, we now look past the horizon for all the new games arriving next year. So far, several publishers have announced some impressive projects that will likely make their mark in 2023. This list of developers includes Bethesda, Insomniac, Ubisoft, Nintendo, and many others. They are looking to cash in on the gamers looking for next-generation titles to play on their consoles, PC, and other portable devices.

But which titles have us buzzing the most? Find out more on IGN India’s list of the Most Anticipated Games of 2023.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Insomniac Games has made their mark as one of the top PlayStation developers with their recent projects, which includes the upcoming sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Featuring the returning Peter Parker and Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2 will feature the former’s iconic nemesis Eddie Brock aka Venom. The developer has signed Candyman actor Tony Todd to voice Brock in the upcoming game.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Following multiple delays, the Nintendo Switch will finally have a new The Legend of Zelda title arriving next year.

Titled “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” the new adventure will see Link explore floating islands above Hyrule alongside many other exciting additions. These additions include combat and improved gameplay mechanics that has us very enthralled.

3. Starfield

Following years of work on The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, Bethesda will launch a new IP next year called, Starfield.

The space RPG title will fulfill the fantasies of gamers wanting to explore the galactic expanse of the cosmos. Bethesda has already revealed that the game will feature over 1000 planets to explore. Other than that, there will also be other customizable elements to the game such as your own spaceship, outposts, weapons and more.

4. Final Fantasy XVI

We finally have a new Final Fantasy title, and it will be released next year! For the first time in seven years, Square Enix returns with a new mainline Final Fantasy title. Gamers will get to play the role of Clive Rosfield in the fictional world of Valisthea. With deadly creatures like Elkons roaming around Valisthea, the story follows Rosfield’s vow of revenge following a tragic event.

5. Assassins Creed Mirage

After the adventures of Valhalla, the Assassin’s Creed journey will now move to 9th century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age with Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

The upcoming title of the popular action-adventure franchise will follow Basim Ibn Ishaq as he takes on the Templar Order. Basim was initially introduced in Valhalla and now he assumes the role of the protagonist in the upcoming title. The game will focus on his origin as a street thief including joining the Brotherhood and adventures later.

6. Hogwarts Legacy

The Wizarding World will once again come to life in this immersive, open-world RPG title from Avalanche Software. Like most, if not all Harry Potter games in the past, gamers will play as one of the students at Hogwarts.

The game will feature some of the franchise’s famous locations such as the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade and more. Along with that, you can fulfill your dreams of being sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses. Harry Potter fans will get a chance to relive their memories of the wizarding world as they live as Hogwarts students attending classes, exploring the open world and going on adventures.

7. Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Jedi Knight Cal Kestis makes his return, five years after the adventures of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in the sequel from Respawn.

Titled “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” the new title will see Kestis after his tough battles with the Empire. He will come face-to-face with a familiar foe that threatens the Jedi Order and the galaxy at large in the upcoming title.

8. Street Fighter VI

After a long wait of 7 years, we finally have a new Street Fighter title from Capcom.

2023 will see the release of Street Fighter VI with a base roster of 18 characters, including legends like Ryu, Chun-Li, Luke and more. Furthermore, it will come with three game modes including Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub. The Capcom developers will also bring a new Drive Gauge combat system to the mix.

9. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Rocksteady Studios will be expanding the Batman: Arkham universe with a spinoff title set around Task Force X aka The Suicide Squad.

The upcoming action-adventure title will allow you to play as anti-heroes like Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. This team will take on Brainiac and the brainwashed Justice League led by Batman. The game developer revealed that Batman was voiced by the late Kevin Conroy one last time.

10. Redfall

Following their successful FPS antics with Deathloop last year, Arkane Studios returns with a new title in the same genre called Redfall.

The upcoming title takes place in the fictional town of Redfall, Massachusetts. This town has been overrun by vampires following a failed science experiment. Players will get to suit up as one of the four characters trapped in the town. They can then try out the vampire slaying mayhem as a single player or with co-op multiplayer.

11. Forspoken

Enter the fantasy world of Athia in the shoes of New York City resident Frey Holland. Holland is investigating her way back home while surviving the iron fist rule of the kingdom’s monarch known as The Tantas.

With a variety of magic spells, players will need to defeat demonic creatures and improve their in-game abilities to increase the odds of their survival. The open world title also features random break storms, where gamers will face hordes of enemies including a boss character.

12. Forza Motorsport

The eighth Forza Motorsport title is being hailed as a game changer for the franchise. To mark the importance, Xbox has not added any numbers alongside the title of the upcoming simulation racing game. The title was first unveiled during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in 2022. As part of the reveal, the developer noted that this game will be the most detailed entry in the series. Players will get new features like dynamic weather affecting track conditions, handling and more.

Honorable Mentions

Indus

Indian developer SuperGaming has long been teasing its upcoming Battle Royale title, Indus for PC, consoles and mobile. The development team has mixed futuristic elements along with rich Indian culture. Indus is a lore-heavy Battle Royale title focusing on an old race known as the Yaksha. The Yaksha became the first interstellar civilization with the help of powers they gained from a mysterious substance known as Cosmium.

Hades 2

Supergiant Games’ 2021 Game of the Year-winning title Hades will soon receive a sequel. The developer will release Hades 2 as an Early Access title for Windows in 2023. This upcoming roguelike game will be set around Melinoë, the sister of Zagreus, the protagonist in the original title. Hades II will follow the Princess of the Underworld’s adventures against Cronus, the Titan of Time, while seeking the help of the Greek Gods of Olympus.

Dead Space

One of the first titles dropping next year is the long-awaited remake of the 2008 space horror game, Dead Space.

Featuring improved visuals and gameplay from the developers at EA Motive, the upcoming title will mostly feature the same story as the original. Like the original, the remake will revolve around an engineer by the name Isaac Clarke aboard the USG Ishimura. Clarke will attempt to survive on the ship following a deadly attack by creatures known as Necromorphs.
