Mason Greenwood Removed From FIFA 22 by EA as Assault Investigation Intensifies

FIFA 22 developers EA Sports have removed maligned Manchester United player Mason Greenwood following his recent assault allegations.

In a recent squad update for console and PC, the developers have completely removed the England international from the game, and he will no longer feature in the squad list of English club Manchester United.

While Greenwood won’t be available in the game’s offline modes such as Career mode, he’s still present in FIFA 22’s popular online mode in Ultimate Team.

Moreover, after the allegations intensified in recent days, the player’s value on the transfer market even increased as well on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

However, a spokesperson for EA has notified that the player will be suspended from Ultimate Team as well.

“Mason Greenwood has been removed from active squads in FIFA 22 and has also been suspended from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) packs and Ultimate Draft.”

The 20-year-old was touted to be one of of England and United’s future stars. However, following the assault allegations, the player has since been suspended by the Manchester club.

“Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind. As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice”.

The players was released on bail pending further investigation today after he was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill on Tuesday.

Along with his suspension from Manchester United and FIFA 22, sports apparel giants Nike also announced that they were severing ties with a statement.

“We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”

Other than that, Manchester United’s merchandise partner in Cadbury has also declared that Greenwood won’t feature in any of their marketing or products associated with the club.
