Huawei has confirmed the launch date for its upcoming foldable device – the Mate Xs 2 – via a Weibo post. The company posted a teaser for its next flagship on the social platform with the release date confirmed to be April 28. The launch event will take place in the company’s native market China and is scheduled to start from 7 pm local time. Besides divulging the date, the teaser also says “Folding flagship and the latest product launch event” (machine translated). At the head of the post is the tag “The “face” worth seeing”.
As of now, Huawei is tight-lipped about the specs and the other features of the upcoming foldable phone but as per a report by MyFixGuide, a new Huawei 4G phone (model number “PAL-AL00”) has recently been listed on the the MIIT Chinese certification site. This phone model , believed to be the Huawei Mate Xs 2, reportedly comes powered with the Kirin 9000 4G SoC and runs HarmonyOS. The report also adds that this smartphone will have an outwards folding display which will come with a single punch hole and the top right.
The Huawei Mate Xs 2 will succeed the Mate Xs foldable smartphone, which the company launched two years back, and will be the fifth foldable smartphone by the company, after Mate X, Mate X2, Mate Xs and the P50 Pocket. It is unclear yet whether the Chinese technology giant will bring the device to India as it did not bring the P50 Pocket, the ‘pocket phone’ which is seen as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3-rival.
