Matt Tebbutt, 48, has been noticeably absent from Saturday Kitchen after he was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery earlier this month to have his appendix removed. Now, he has delighted fans by revealing that he has made a solid recovery and will be returning to their TV screens on Saturday morning.

Earlier today, Matt shared a photograph to his 64,000 Instagram followers from the Saturday Kitchen set.

The host looked in good spirits as he stood with a big smile on his face with the show’s recognisable ovens and hobs in the background.

Fans were thrilled to see Matt looking so well and shared how pleased they were that he had returned to his hosting duties.

TV chef Andi Oliver said: “Aww you’re back! Good to see you’re feeling better lovely x.”

Saturday Kitchen’s resident wine expert, Olly Smith, added: “You look like the Milk Tray Man on his day off. Magnificent.”

Great British Bake Off winner, Candice Brown, echoed: “He’s back!!!!!”

And chef Chris Baber replied: “That face when you’re making trout for dinner.”

The official Twitter account for Saturday Kitchen also confirmed Matt’s return.

He praised the staff at the hospital for the “fantastic” care he had received.

The chef added that he “couldn’t ask for more from such a brilliant health service” and he was “so grateful” to the NHS.

Matt has become a fan favourite on Saturday Kitchen after he took over from James Martin in 2016.

Over the years, Matt has had a string of famous faces on the show including the likes of Gary Barlow, Strictly’s Shirley Ballas and singer Sophie Ellis-Bexter.

In an interview with Express.co.uk earlier this month, the host explained he loves welcoming new guests to the kitchen, however, there are some he prefers more than others.

He said: “We’ve had so many great people. I really wanted Gary Barlow to come on the show and he did.

“And he was an absolute joy and we have stayed in touch since.

“There are always some people who just put you on edge because you never know what they’re going to come out with next.”

Saturday Kitchen airs tomorrow at 10am on BBC One.
