Expanding its chipset portfolio, MediaTek has announced the all-new Dimensity 8000 series for budget premium smartphones. Along with that the company has also unveiled the mid-range Dimensity 1300 chipset.
The Dimensity 8000 series includes the regular Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 8100 chips. According to the company, the new chipsets are expected to bring flagship level features, connectivity and performance to budget flagship smartphones.
The new chipsets are based on technology used with the Dimensity 9000 platform and are built using TSMC 5nm production process.
Both Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 chips feature a total of eight cores. Also, both the chips are equipped with four high performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores. However, the cores on Dimensity 8100 are clocked at 2.85GHz, while on Dimensity 8000, the cores are clocked at 2.75GHz.
Apart from that, both the chips come with ARM Mali-G6 GPU with MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technologies. The chipset also supports LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.
The new Dimensity 8000 series also uses MediaTek’s Open Resource Architecture to give device makers the flexibility to customize and differentiate features.
The Dimensity 8000 series also comes with MediaTek’s fifth generation AI processing unit, APU 580.
