Storm assistant Ryan Hoffman is full of praise for Xavier Coates after his stunning start to life in Melbourne.

As we mentioned earlier, Coates was named by Bellamy as one of the top performers during the Storm’s pre-season and Hoffman echoed the view of the master coach.

“Xavier’s been fantastic,” Hoffman tells Fox League.

“We could see that there was a lot of talent and potential there, we just needed to harness it correctly and I think we’ve done that so far.”

Coates is wearing the No.5 jersey that Josh Addo-Carr made his own over the last few seasons, and Hoffman said Coates has emulated some of what ‘The Foxx’ did so well.

“What has been the highlight is his talking on the sideline,” he says. “He’s really bringing that energy Josh had.”
