Sir Michael Caine, who celebrated his 90th birthday last month, has been holidaying in Barbados with his wife Shakira, 76, over the Easter break.

In new photographs, the legendary actor was seen with his walking frame and an aide as he made his way to the beach.

The Zulu actor looked smart in a blue linen shirt paired with navy shorts and trainers.

Michael shielded his eyes with some aviator sunglasses while linking arms with his aide as he walked.

The Oscar winner has been using a walking stick since he suffered a nasty fall on ice in 2018 which left him with a broken ankle.

He later underwent surgery on his back. Last year, Michael said: “I have a spine problem which affects my leg, so I can’t walk very well.”

Michael’s wife of 50 years, Shakira, later explained that he was suffering from spinal stenosis.

The condition is a narrowing of the spinal canal which compresses the nerves travelling through the lower back into the legs.

It leads to the gradual loss of strength in the legs and can cause severe pain.

Shakira told the Daily Mail: “He had a back operation quite recently. He had spinal stenosis.”

Shakira also described Michael as a “strong man” and said he was doing “great” amid his recovery from the operation.

She added: “The operation was fantastic. He’ll be up and dancing again soon.”

Nevertheless, Michael said he will not retire from acting anytime soon.

He previously sparked concern among his fan base when he said his 2021 film Best Sellers was “his last part”.

He told Simon Mayo: “Because I haven’t worked for two years, and I have a spine problem which affects my legs so I can’t walk very well.

“And I also wrote a couple of books which were published and were successful, so I’m now not an actor, I’m a writer.

“There’s not exactly scripts pouring out with a leading man who’s 88.”

His representatives later confirmed to The Wrap that he is not fully retiring.
