Michelle Yeoh Explains Why Quentin Tarantino Refused to Cast Her in Kill Bill

Let’s get this out of the way first – Michelle Yeoh is cool as hell, and that’s a fact.

For over 30 years, the Malaysian actress has set the film world on fire. With roles in legendary films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Holy Weapon and Yes, Madam, it’s fair to say that she’s literally a bad***.

Like me, she has quite the fandom around the world, and it even has famous names like Quentin Tarantino. The director of films like Reservoir Dogs and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood has great respect for the actress. However, she’s never been a part of any of his films.

While Tarantino never casted her in a movie, she did serve as an inspiration for Uma Thurman, when she filmed for his 2003 hit, Kill Bill. And that begs the question on why Yeoh didn’t have a role in the film after all?

While Tarantino never gave fans the reasoning behind such a decision, Yeoh apparently had the answers for years from the man himself.

During a recent interview with Town & Country (via EW), the actress stated that Tarantino said to her that he couldn’t make the audience believe that she could be beaten by Uma Thurman’s Bride.

And to be honest, that’s a pretty fair argument from Tarantino. However, we would like to send a formal request for the man to finally cast her in a role because she’s on top of the film world right now, and it wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t get to see Yeoh in a future Tarantino film.
