Microsoft Edge’s file sharing feature is getting an update: Details

Microsoft has been testing ‘Drop’ feature for its Chromemium-based Edge web browser since a couple of months now. The feature first arrived in May and now it has received an update which brings screenshot integration.
For those who don’t know, Edge Drop is a ‘messaging app’-like feature which allows users to share notes, files, photos, videos, etc across different platforms including Mac, Windows, Android and iOS.
The Drop feature is available in the Edge’s sidebar which also includes other apps and services like search, WhatsApp, Instagram, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc.
With the latest addition, users can find a new screenshot icon beside the ‘+’ button which automatically opens up the screenshot tool and allows users to snip and share directly via Drop feature. Obviously, one can take a screenshot and then send it as an image file, but, this integration will make things a lot easier for users.
But, it is important to note that everything you share works with OneDrive which also means that everything is counted against your OneDrive’s storage.
The Edge Drop feature is currently in the testing phase and it is not available in the stable version right now. However, if you want to give this feature a try, you can download the Edge Canary build and log in using your Microsoft account to use the feature.
