Microsoft is planning to reintroduce a feature for File Explorer on Windows 11 that will help users to switch between different windows. The tech giant has decided to bring back the browser-like tabbed browsing on Windows 11. Microsoft has recently updated its blog post announcing the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25136 to the Dev Channel. Apart from offering multiple fixes, the latest preview build also introduces new features.
File Explorer tabbed-view feature
As per Microsoft, File Explorer tabs and navigation updates have started rolling out to Windows Insiders. The blog post details that this new feature will help users to switch between tabs without opening multiple new windows every time they access a new folder. Apart from the File Explorers tabbed view, Microsoft is also adding more Dynamic Widgets to the Windows 11 Taskbar.
Dynamic Widgets
This new update will allow users to customise the taskbar present at the bottom of the screen according to their preferences. Currently, users can find live content from the weather widget but this new feature will add updates from live sports events and stock markets, along with breaking news alerts.
Windows 11 new Preview Build availability
The company is rolling out this new build in a phased manner so everyone might not get them, right away. Initially, Microsoft is testing these features with a few users and will opt for a wider rollout once it gets relevant feedback. Moreover, the company even warns that these updates are available under the Dev Channel of the Windows 11 Insider programme. So, these new features might be buggy and may even compromise the stability of your device.
