Microsoft starts testing media auto playback on Edge

Microsoft used to offer the ability to block autoplay for videos while browsing the internet via Edge browsers. The feature was then removed and now the company is planning to bring it back again.
Windows Central has reported that Microsoft has once again started testing the option to block autoplay videos for the Edge browser. The feature is currently available in Edge Canary build.
Microsoft Edge to automatically block video playback
The company has mentioned in a blog post that based on the user’s request for strict blocking of media autoplay, the company is bringing back the feature. According to the post, the Edge autoplay settings will now have the option to Block the video auto playback completely and once it is selected, Edge will prevent videos from automatically playing while browsing.
Do note that the feature is currently in the Edge Canary build and is in the testing phase and if everything goes well with it, Edge’s stable build may get this feature in future updates.
How to enable media auto playback
Enabling auto playback is simple in Edge Canary build. First, download and install the Edge Canary on your PC or Mac. Then head to edge://settings/content/media Autoplay from the address bar and select Block from the drop-down menu to enable it.
In other news, Microsoft recently updated the Edge browser with the new Bing integration and comes with a dedicated Bing Copilot that allows users to ask queries, create an article and also search the internet better. In addition, Microsoft also integrated the new DALL-E-based AI image generator in the browser via the sidebar as well as Bing’s integration.
