Microsoft announces the end of its Fitness tracking wearables, Microsoft Bands and Microsoft Health Dashboard apps and services from the May 31st. In 2016, Microsoft discontinued the production line-up of Microsoft Bands but they kept the service alive for their existing users. But now, they plan to completely destroy this service and will remove the apps from Play Store, Windows Store, and App Store. Also, the official site will be discontinued from May 31st.

Microsoft announced this news from its official blogpost on Friday. In addition to the discontinuation of this service, the company also announced to initiate refunds to the owners who still have their devices under warranty. The tech giant will be initiating a refund of $79.99 for Band 1 owners and $175 for Band 2 devices. The Microsoft Band users who have used the band and have synced data to the “Health Dashboard” between December 1, 2018, and March 1, 2019, can also apply for refunds by the company.

Apart from this, Microsoft advised its users to export their data from the Health Dashboard before May 31st by using the Export tools as after May, Microsoft will be deleting all the data from the Health Dashboard and users will no longer be able to export their data. However, the band users can continue to record daily steps, heart rate, and workouts, alongside activity data, sleep tracking, and alarm functionality. Resetting the device after the service been discontinued will make it impossible to set up the device again,” Microsoft said.
