Millie Bobby Brown, 19, and Jake Bongiovi, 20, are hearing wedding bells in the distance as they announced their engagement on Instagram yesterday, both with mile-wide smiles as the actress flaunted her hefty new piece of jewellery.

The celebratory post received a sensational 10 million likes within the first 24 hours as endless streams of “congratulations” poured in, with many Stranger Things fans hilariously demanding that her costar Noah Schnapps be their flower girl or ring bearer.

However, not everyone was quite as overjoyed for the happy couple, who have been together for two and a half years, as an avalanche of criticism descended.

Many insisted in the comments section of the post that Millie was “far too young” to be engaged and to think about marriage, with one declaring at that age “you don’t even know who you are”.

Simr_09 added to the discourse: “You made a quick decision and will regret it in future” and many agreed with Rahul.mp3_ as he said: “Can see the divorce from a mile away.”

Soon, the apparent concern from many of Millie’s 63 million Instagram followers overflowed into other social media platforms as ‘She’s 19’ began trending on Twitter.

However, some fans pointed out that the critics may have a different idea of Millie in their minds as they still picture her as the 12-year-old who catapulted to fame on the first season of Stranger Things.

In the seven years since her Netflix debut, the actress has won countless awards, ventured into producing and founded her makeup brand Florence by Mills, which in itself is now an award-winning brand.

Other fans also pointed out that due to starting her work so young, Millie has matured far beyond her physical years, which is evidenced when she became the youngest person included in Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2018.

As part of her inclusion on the exclusive list, Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul opened up on his first meeting with the actress when she was just 12, saying: “She may have been 12 in years, but her spirit and mind were timeless.
