Moto G5, the popular smartphone from the Motorola G-series was launched earlier in 2017. The smartphone finally gets the flavour of Android 8.1 Operating system. The firmware update is currently being rolled out over-the-air in India and is expected to roll out in other markets as well. Brazil was the first country to get the Android 8.1 Oreo update
The update brings forth the all-new Android 8.1 Oreo firmware along with Android security updates through August 1st, 2018, and a couple of stability improvements.
Here’s the changelog of Android 8.1 Oreo update for Moto G5:
- Android 8.1 Oreo: many enhancements including new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls, improved data saver, battery features, new power menu UI and Bluetooth improvements
- Android security: includes the updates of Android security patches through August 1st of 2018
- Stability improvements: includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of your phone
To download the update on your device, simply head over to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates and tap on “Download”. Once the update file has been downloaded, you will be prompted to reboot your device, post which the Android 8.1 Oreo update will be installed.
