Netflix’s Emmy-nominated comedy series Emily in Paris starring Lily Collins as the titular character recently received not one but a two-season renewal.
The news of the show’s renewal comes a month after the release of the series’ second season, which arrived on December 22 on the widely popular streaming service.
Created by Darren Star, Emily in Paris follows the life of an American marketing executive played by Lily Collins, who shifts from Chicago to the French capital to provide an American point of view to a major marketing farm called Savoir.
The news about the popular show’s two-season renewal was broken by none other than Emily herself as Lily Collins posted the exciting news in her recent Instagram post.
The show revolves around Emily as she tries to balance her life in Paris in both the personal and professional world.
At her workplace, she tries to gain the support of French colleagues by using American media strategies while not being able to speak the local language. On the personal side of things, Emily tries her hand at romance in the city of love while she documents her life on her new Instagram account for the world to see.
Season 1 of Emily in Paris released on October 2, 2020 and it became a smash-hit on Netflix with the show remaining in the top ten list of most streamed shows for a long time
Season 2 of Emily in Paris released late last year with even better streaming numbers to show for. The show debuted on Netflix’s Global Top 10 with the streaming platform revealing that over 107.6 million households watched it in the first week.
Along with the massive streaming numbers, the show has also been nominated for the Emmys and the Golden Globes. However, Emily in Paris has also gained a lot of criticism from both fans and critics alike for its depiction of French and Eastern European communities.
It will be interesting to see where creator Darren Star, who’s known for his work on shows like Sex and the City, Younger and many more, will take the story of Emily after the massive cliffhanger ending of Season 2, and fans can’t wait to see what he has in store for them in Season 3.
