Before Lady Whistledown wrote the gossip of Regency-era England, a young queen was growing into her role in high society — now “Bridgerton” fans will see Queen Charlotte’s story.

More about the “Bridgerton” prequel, “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” was revealed Saturday during Netflix’s Tudum event, which gives viewers a sneak peek at what’s to come on the streaming platform. Teasers for Season 3 of “Bridgerton” were kept brief but the show’s cast and creator Shonda Rhimes announced the new project focusing on the young royal.

In a less than 2-minute long clip we see a young Charlotte, played by India Amarteifio, attempting to climb a wall before being stopped by her love interest, the future King George III, played by Corey Mylchreest.

The “Bridgerton” Twitter account teased Saturday’s first look with a “formal introduction” photo Friday.

“Dearest readers, rejoice in a formal introduction to royalty herself, India Amarteifio, who along with the incomparable duo of Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh will reveal the origins of Your Majesty,” the tweet read.

Review: ‘Bridgerton’ burns bright in Season 2, even with less sex and no duke

During the first look, Amarteifio’s Charlotte tells George she’s trying to get over wall to get a glimpse of the current king who she assumes must be “a beast or a troll” because nobody talks about him.

She asks George for help as a “lady in distress,” but George calls her bluff.

“I refuse when that lady in distress is trying to go over a wall so that she does not have to marry me,” he said.

The first look ends there with no official release date but a promise that the series will premiere in 2023.
