Next James Bond producer ‘decided that unknown person of colour will replace Daniel Craig’ | Films | Entertainment
According to Giant Freakin Robot’s trusted and proven sources, EON Productions are actively seeking a male star who fits those two credentials of not being white nor famous.
When casting a new Bond, Broccoli has always wanted to reflect on the times and chose the relatively unknown Craig in 2005 to take the franchise into a post-9/11 world that Brosnan’s incarnation and his invisible car couldn’t fit anymore.
At the time of casting there was outrage that the star, who no one would question in the role now, had blonde hair unlike previous 007 actors – even though Moore had fair hair too.
Just as controversial as that was for a time, no doubt the first person of colour in the role will be too. But hopefully, diehard Bond fans will judge the actor on his performance as the character, one that will be an incarnation for Britain in the 2020s, just as Craig’s was for the turn of the century.
