According to the latest leak from Tom Henderson, who has been pretty well-known for his Battlefield info recently, Electronic Arts is planning to launch a new Need For Speed game as well as a Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order sequel this year.

After developing four Need For Speed titles, Ghost Games has eventually returned the series back to Criterion Games.

The former developers of Need For Speed at Criterion have been acting as a support studio in Electronic Arts for the past several years, helping DICE to complete the work on Battlefield 5 and 2042, as well as providing aid for the Star Wars Battlefront development.

EA Expects Criterion’s Need For Speed to Be Launched in September or October 2022

During the EA Play 2020 event, Electronic Arts officially confirmed that the next Need For Speed game will be developed by Criterion Games rather than Ghost Games.

As Tom Henderson reveals, Criterion Games had to help the team behind Battlefield 2042 at DICE during the Summer of last year, which forced the team to almost stop working on Need For Speed for a significant amount of time.

As a result, the new Need For Speed was pushed back in the launch schedule of Electronic Arts, and according to Tom Henderson, is now targeting a September/October 2022 release.

If that would be true, then we can expect to see the reveal trailer of the next Need For Speed game during this year’s EA Play event or even earlier.
