Nintendo Switch could drop to record low price with a Tesco Clubcard | Gaming | Entertainment

Rumours are circulating that supermarket giant Tesco are about to slash the price of the Nintendo Switch to £219. This would mark a £40 saving on the typical price tag of £259, and would be one of the lowest prices the Nintendo Switch has ever sold for on its own. These rumours come courtesy of hotukdeals, with one member of the community claiming this Switch deal will launch on Friday January 28 with the promotional price available exclusively to Clubcard members.

It’s been claimed this deal will run until February 10, and that the recently released Nintendo Switch OLED will also be available at a record low price as well.

Instead of the usual £309.99 price, the Switch OLED will allegedly be available for Tesco Clubcard holders for £269.

That’s the lowest price the Switch OLED has ever been on sale for, and just a tenner more than the typical RRP of the standard Switch.

A post about the alleged leaked deal, which was revealed by hotukdeals member Renshy, says: “Starting tomorrow the original improved battery switch will be £219 until 10th Feb for Clubcard customers.

“£50 more will get you the upgraded OLED model which I thinks better but this is handy for people who don’t mind.”

As always with rumours or leaks, it’s best to take things with a pinch of salt until official confirmation.

But Tesco do have form in running deals like this. In November 2021 Tesco slashed the price of a Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 bundle to £239 for Clubcard members.

This deal, which was available in the run-up to Black Friday, also included three months worth of access to Switch Online.

If Tesco do end up selling the Switch for £219 this week it will be one of the cheapest prices that’s ever been listed for the Switch.

Earlier this month though Asda went a few quid better than Tesco are rumoured to be, with the Switch available for £215 on its own.

If you’ve not picked up a Switch since it launched almost five years ago, but are interested in doing so, then now is the perfect time to do so – thanks to the amazing range of money saving deals that are going live.

In its almost five years on sale the Switch has built up an incredible library, with tonnes of unmissable games such as The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Monster Hunter Rise and much, much more.

And there’s even more great games around the corner, with this year the highly anticipated Breath of the Wild 2 launching on the Switch along with Splatoon 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Bayonetta 3 and more.

This month Switch fans have also been treated to one of the most highly anticipated Nintendo releases of the year – Pokemon Legends Arceus – which takes the Pokemon franchise in a bold new direction.

The latest offering from Game Freak has been receiving rave reviews and record pre-orders at Currys.
