The recently released script for Spider-Man: No Way confirmed that MJ may not have forgotten Peter Parker completely during their chat at the coffee shop.
The final movie of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy in the MCU ended on a sad but hopeful note when Parker asked Doctor Strange to contain his spell by making sure that everyone forgets him.
This meant that the memories of Spider-Man’s closest aides in best friend Ned and the love of his life in MJ with him will be erased as well.
However, once the dust settled following the multiversal calamity the Spider-Men averted, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker returned to MJ and Ned at the coffee shop to reveal the events they forgot because of Doctor Strange’s spell.
But, while talking to MJ, Peter backed off from his initial plan of saying the truth to the duo and he never spoke the words he had written to explain the entire situation. He instead pretended to be a regular customer who was just there to buy some coffee.
Other than that, it’s also written that MJ had a “lingering sense of recognition,” when Peter left the shop after their conversation, and this could mean that she had a familiar feeling while talking to him.
