Adam Reynolds will lead the Brisbane Broncos as captain in his first season at the club after being named skipper on Monday night.
When the veteran halfback crossed from South Sydney to Brisbane after the 2021 NRL season, he was touted as a crucial piece to the Broncos’ leadership puzzle in the club’s bid to again become a competition powerhouse.
Reynolds has become the Broncos’ 13th player, including inaugural NRLW skipper Ali Brigginshaw, to be named full-time captain.

The 31-year-old has joined Wally Lewis, Gene Miles, Allan Langer, Kevin Walters, Gorden Tallis, Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday, Corey Parker, Justin Hodges, Darius Boyd, Alex Glenn and Brigginshaw on the club’s esteemed captaincy honour role.
“It’s an incredible honour to be asked to lead this great club,” Reynolds said.
“In recent years, there was an opportunity for me to move into a leadership role and I’ve loved every minute of it. It can be challenging at times but also very rewarding.
“You get to see the players around you grow and get better, and I like spending time with other players and trying to improve them.
“Obviously experience is handy to have at this stage of my career and I tend to think that I lead through my actions and challenging others to improve.”
As Glenn’s captaincy replacement, Reynolds will this year aim to lead the Broncos to their first finals campaign since 2019.
The former competition juggernaut collected its first-ever wooden spoon in 2020 and finished in 14th on the ladder last year.
Reynolds has played 231 NRL matches since making his debut in 2012.
He was a member of the Rabbitohs’ 2014 premiership-winning team that defeated the Bulldogs in the grand final.
