Melbourne Storm centre Justin Olam has been rocked by one of the biggest hits of the season.

Early in the Storms’ clash against the Sea Eagles, Haumole Olakau’atu flew out of the Manly line and put on a brutal hit.

Olam was unsurprisingly slow to his feet. The hit left Immortal Andrew Johns – and the rest of 4 Pines Park – stunned.

“That never happens,” he said on Nine’s NRL coverage.

“You never see Justin Olam hit like that. I’ve never ever seen Olam get rocked, let alone smashed like that.

“For people watching at home, this player never gets smashed. What a hit.”

The hit even left Jonathan Thurston rattled.

“I’m glad I’m retired … oh my gosh look at that,” he said at half time for Nine.

“That is rugby league at its best.”

After the game, Sea Eagles lock Josh Aloiai said it was a plan for he and Olakau’atu to target Olam.

“This team and Justin in particular, we had to go after them physically, especially here at the fortress,” he told Nine’s Danika Mason.

“I’m happy how we done that – it’s nice having this big fella next to me.”

“If you don’t throw everything at him, it will be the other way around, and we will be rolling on our backs. We threw everything at him and it came off.”

The Sea Eagles would eventually hold on to win 18-8.
