There were serious concerns for Warriors winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak when he was taken off on a stretcher following an ugly accident during his side’s 60-point loss to the Storm.

Competing for the high ball with Ryan Papenhuyzen, who took possession and scored, Watene-Zelezniak fell awkwardly before his head collided with the knee of Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

He appeared to lay unconscious for several moments, as staff rushed to check on his welfare.

He was eventually taken off on a stretcher as concerned teammates and opponents watched on.

“He’s still down… he hasn’t moved,” said Warren Smith in commentary for Fox League.

“He was out before his head hit the turf.”

Thankfully, the Warriors gave a rather positive update on his condition soon after.

Warriors coach Nathan Brown confirmed Watene-Zelezniak was badly concussed in the incident, but added that the winger was walking.

“Dalin is up and walking which is positive, but he’s also had a bad concussion. How long that is, I couldn’t tell you,” Brown said after the game.
