NRL news 2022, Victor Radley, Roosters vs Warriors, on report, suspension, Nathan Brown

Roosters enforcer Victor Radley has found an unlikely ally in opposition coach Nathan Brown.

Radley is once again sweating on the match review committee’s charge sheet, after he was placed on report for an accidental high shot against the Warriors at the SCG.

Radley chased through a Roosters kick, which was fielded by opposition winger Edward Kosi.

As Kosi fell over trying to get back in the field of play, Radley’s arm made contact with the ball-carrier’s head.

Play was stopped and Radley was reported and penalised.

He will now wait to see if the MRC charges him when the sheet is released on Monday.

Radley is one of the game’s true enforcers, but has a habit of crossing the line and making illegal contact with opponents.

Last year it cost him a five-week suspension when he red-lined in a fiery clash with the Broncos.

Brown, though, is pleading with the NRL not to ban the Chooks lock for this latest incident.

Brown took the chance to raise the issue with media, unprompted, after Sunday’s game.

“I’d be really disappointed if the bloke gets suspended who got Ed Kosi,” Brown said.

“Honestly, I understand we should have got a penalty, and we should have got a free (concussion interchange), but they can’t suspend that bloke for that.

“If our game goes to that level… you can’t suspend Victor Radley for that. You can’t possibly.

“I’m not sure what Victor is supposed to do, so I hope he doesn’t get suspended for that one.

“I think the ref got it right, he gave us our penalty, we got our free change… but we can’t let the game get to that stage where a bloke like Radley (gets suspended) when (Kosi) is that low to the ground.

“It’s just not right.”
