Ola scooter: Ola EV captures 92% market share in premium scooter segment

Bengaluru-based Ola Electric, India’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer on Thursday said that its penetration in the premium scooter segment (units costing Rs 1 lakh and above ex-showroom price) has grown to over 92% from 36% before it announced its entry in the segment in 2021.

With a revenue market share of over 50% across ICE and EVs in November, the company also sold over 20,000 units in that time period.

“The End of ICE Age is now a reality. The complete dominance of EVs in the premium scooter segment shows that the only reason why customers still consider an ICE vehicle today is due to the lack of world class EV alternatives,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CEO, Ola in a press release.

“We will continue to build and expand aggressively with products across multiple segments and price-points and lead the transition of the Indian 2W industry to 100% EVs by 2025!” he added.

Ola Electric on Monday announced that it has expanded its direct-to-consumer (D2C) footprint by opening 14 new experience centres across 11 cities in the country.

The company opened 3 centres in Bengaluru, two in Pune and one each in Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kota, Bhopal, Nagpur, Ranchi and Vadodara, it said in a statement.

Ola Electric now has more than 50 experience centres and aims to open 200 by the end of this year.

The centres allow electric vehicles (EV) enthusiasts to experience its EV technology and also enable customers to take test rides of the S1 and S1 Pro.
