OnePlus 6T Launch Rescheduled to Avoid Being Overshadowed by Apple’s October 30 Event

The OnePlus event on October 30 that was scheduled in New York for the launch of the OnePlus 6T smartphone has been rescheduled. The company says that this decision was made to avoid being overshadowed by Apple as it will host an event in New York on the same day.

The OnePlus 6T was previously announced to be unveiled on October 30 through the simultaneous launch events in New York and New Delhi. But everything has changed on Thursday as Apple has announced its own event in Brooklyn, New York on the same day, wherein they are expected to launch new iPad and Mac models.

The OnePlus 6T launch event is now rescheduled to start at 11 am on October 29. According to David Y, Community Manager on the same forum thread, the Indian launch event of the OnePlus 6T is not affected by the changes. The OnePlus 6T India launch event will still start at 8:30 pm on October 30.

Pete Lau, OnePlus’ CEO announced the change in the launch date of the OnePlus 6T. Pete Lau said that it is a keen decision since Apple is a big competitor. “In any pursuit, you can only play the cards you are dealt. We were dealt a pretty bad hand. Our challenge was to find a way to make the most of a bad situation. For months on end, hundreds of people have poured their hearts and souls into creating our best product to date. Our goal is to make sure it gets the time and attention it deserves”, he said.

Even though the launch date has been rescheduled, Lau promises ticket refunds for people who won’t be able to attend on the new date. They will also cover any costs of things such as paying to switch flights or change of hotel reservations for the ones who still want to attend the event. The whole team are now sorting things out with all the ticket owners.

Even though things seem to have sorted out, we might still see some unexpected changes. So stay tuned to TechnoCodex to be always updated.
