OnePlus private testing first-ever tablet in India: Report

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is set to launch its next-gen flagship smartphone for the Indian market. The company has confirmed that the smartphone will be launched at an event on February 7. OnePlus seems to be following the suit of other Chinese brands like Realme, Oppo, Redmi and Xiaomi who all have their separate large-screened offerings. Rumours suggest that the company is following the same path and is also working on a new Android tablet model. According to a report by GizmoChina, the company has reportedly begun private testing for this tablet ahead of its official announcement.
The report also claims that the OnePlus Pad is being tested under the codename ‘Aries.’ As per the report, the company might be carrying out the testing phase in India. This suggests that OnePlus may soon release its first-ever tablet in the country. However, the report couldn’t confirm the moniker of the upcoming tablet which can be either named the OnePlus Pad or the OnePlus Tab.
OnePlus Pad: Expected specifications
Previous rumours claimed that the company has trademarked the OnePlus Pad moniker and the device may see a delayed launch date. The latest report hasn’t shared any key highlights of the upcoming tablet. For reference, Chinese smartphone brand Oppo recently launched the Pad Air in India for under Rs 20,000.

The upcoming OnePlus tablet is expected to arrive with similar specifications to the recently released Oppo Pad Air. In case, the OnePlus Pad has similar specs to the Oppo tablet, it is also likely to launch the device around a similar price tag.
Oppo Pad Air: Key specs
Last year’s Oppo Pad Air sports a 7.1-inch IPS LCD panel that supports 2K resolution. Oppo’s latest tablet comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset and packs a 7100mAh battery unit. The tablet packs 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage, backed with 3GB of virtual RAM expansion ability. For optics, the Oppo Pad Air has 8MP and 5MP cameras on the back and front, respectively.
