Oppo is set to bring its latest member of the Reno lineup – the Reno 8 series – to India. The India launch is scheduled for July 18. The latest Reno 8 series was first launched in China in May, including three smartphones – Reno 8, Reno 8 Pro and Reno 8 Pro+. However, the company is launching only two models in India – the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro. While the Reno 8 launching in India is the same as its Chinese counterpart, there are some differences between the two Reno 8 Pro variants. So, let us have a look at the key specifications of the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro launching in India.
Reno 8 Pro to be powered by the Mediatek 8100-Max instead of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset in India
Unlike the Chinese variant of the Reno 8 Pro, which is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, the Indian variant will have Mediatek’s Dimensity 8100-Max chipset. The Reno 8 Pro also features the MariSilicon X NPU.
The Dimensity 8100-Max is an octa-core chipset fabbed on TSMC’s 5nm process node. It consists of four ARM A-78 cores clocked at 2.85GHz. The chipset features a Mali-G610 MC6 graphics unit and Mediatek HyperEngine 5.0.
Other features of Dimensity 8100-Max include AI-VRS graphics enhancement, Bluetooth LE Audio technology with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio and second-gen Wi-Fi/Bluetooth coexistence technology. Furthermore, the chipset has Imagiq ISP that supports two cameras simultaneously.
When compared to the Dimensity 1200 inside the Reno 7 Pro, the Dimensity 1300-Max-powered Reno 8 Pro promises to deliver a 12 percent improvement in performance while being 50 percent more energy efficient than the former.
Mediatek Dimensity 1300 to power Oppo Reno 8
The Reno 8 comes with Dimensity 1300 chipset. Oppo says that the Reno 8 offers 40 percent more performance and a 20 percent increase in power efficiency compared to the Reno 7. Furthermore, the Dimensity 1300 inside the Reno 8 comes with support for 5G connectivity.
Oppo Reno 8 series comes with a 4,500mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC Flash charge
Both the Reno 8 series smartphones boast a 4,500mAh battery with support for SuperVOOC Flash charging technology having five-layer charging protection. Oppo says that the battery inside the Reno 8 series can retain 80 percent of its original capacity even after 1800 charge cycles. Also, the battery can last up to 1.5 days, according to the company.
Reno 8 Pro claims to be cooler than Reno 7 Pro
The Reno 8 Pro comes equipped with the Ultra-Conductive Cooling System for maintaining optimum temperatures while gaming. The Reno 8 features conductive graphite that is said to offer 16.8 percent more cover and 1.5x more efficient than the Reno 7 Pro’s cooling solution.
2 years of Android updates for the Reno 8 series
Oppo has promised two years of annual Android updates and four years of security updates for the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro. Moreover, the Reno 8 has been rated A for TÜV SÜD 36-Month Fluency Rating certification.
