Oscars 2023 nominees: From Elvis and Top Gun to Avatar and The Whale – FULL LIST | Films | Entertainment

Elvis Presley was brought back to life last year with Baz Luhrmann’s biopic, Elvis, with Austin Butler at the forefront. And, although it received critical acclaim around the world, it has a tough fight ahead of it to win Best Picture at this year’s Oscars. The latest high-octane Tom Cruise thriller, Top Gun: Maverick, is also up for Best Picture, while the odds are in Brendan Fraser’s favour for his performance in The Whale. Meanwhile, Everything Everywhere All At Once won big at the Golden Globes earlier this year – does that mean it’s going to go home with the most amount of wins? Or will Ke Huy Quan be the only star from the show to get some love from the Academy?

The Oscars 2023 kick off tonight, Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 17:00 PT / 20:00 ET. This means the Oscars ceremony will air at midnight (going into Monday, March 13, 2023) in the UK. British film fans will be able to watch the ceremony live across four channels: Sky Arts, Sky News, Sky Showcase and Sky Cinema Oscars. The ceremony is expected to last at least three hours.

There are a number of major Hollywood stars presenting awards throughout the night, including Jessica Chastain, Ariana DeBose, Troy Kotsur, Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, Samuel L Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Zoe Saldaña as well as Sigourney Weaver, John Travolta, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly and Florence Pugh.

On top of the star-studded line-up of hosts, Rihanna will be performing her Best Original Song nomination Lift Me Up, which has been taken from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
