Parramatta Eels seal finals spot with big win over Canterbury Bulldogs

Parramatta welcomed Mitch Moses back into the team in the best possible way, with a crushing 42-6 win over the Bulldogs – capped off by a magic try to Dylan Brown.

The five-eighth read a grubber from Moses perfectly, and then deftly kicked the ball up into his own hands, making an incredibly difficult assignment look simple.

“What about that for a touch? You won’t see anything better than that,” leauge great Steve Roach said on commentary during Fox League’s coverage.

“A bit of Pele here – that’s great play.”

Brown, much like the Eels as a whole, is a different beast entirely when Mitchell Moses is in the side, and both halves finished with three try assists.

The win gives the Eels some much-needed breathing room and all-but-secures their place in the finals.

After last week’s thumping at the hands of Souths, the pessimistic contingent of the Eels fanbase were theorising a scenario where they lost their final three games, and were leapfrogged the Raiders winning all of theirs.

Now, even if that scenario were to play out, Canberra would need to overcome a hefty for-and-against swing.

But if the Eels’ attack is humming like this next week when they go for revenge against the Broncos, they’ll have nothing to worry about.

“We’ve got to do that week in, week out – especially coming into the finals,” Moses said afterwards.

“We’ve got two big tests going into the finals – we’ve got Brisbane away and then Melbourne back here in our last game.

“If we can some good wins against them, it’ll give us some good confidence going into the finals.”

Moses said there were no issues with his broken finger, which kept him out of Parramatta’s past two matches.
