Piers Morgan delivers touching Twitter tribute after the death of his shorthand teacher | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
“So sorry to hear this. Mrs Beavers, as we all called her, was a legendary figure so many journalism students like me at Harlow. A wonderful lady. RIP,” he wrote.
Though Piers is now best known for the Meghan Markle scandal which saw him resign from Good Morning Britain instead of apologising, in a stand for freedom of speech, his beginnings were actually at Harlow College.
He completed formal journalism training there, including a shorthand course, accredited by the NCTJ.
Though some say shorthand has been largely replaced by digital recording technology, Piers took part in a 2018 bid by the NCTJ to celebrate 50 years of a technique known as Teeline.
