PS4 fans will be getting an extra free game to look forward to next week. We’re about to find out the next PS Plus line-up, with that selection of free games launching next week. And in the run-up to that reveal Sony has made a surprise announcement, revealing their Play At Home scheme is making a comeback.
The Play At Home initiative first launched last year when millions of people around the world were first going into coronavirus lockdowns.
At the time, Sony launched Play At Home to help give PlayStation fans something to keep them occupied at home.
That freebie which launched in April with two free PS4 games – Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey.
And now Play At Home is making a return once again, this time bringing with it four months of offers.
To kick things off Ratchet & Clank will be offered as a free PS4 game.
This free download will be available from 8pm pacific time on March 1 / 4am GMT on March 2.
This free PS4 game will be available to download from the PlayStation Store until March 31 at 8pm PDT / April 1 at 4am BST.
Once you redeem this game, it will be yours to keep.
While on March 25 anime fans will be getting a big boost, with extended access for new subscribers to Funimation or Wakanim (depending on which service is offered in your country).
Announcing the return of PlayStation Play at Home in a blog post, Jim Ryan said: “The past 12 months haven’t been easy. And I think we’re all hopeful that we may be starting to see some flickers of light at the end of this long COVID-19 tunnel thanks to the tireless work of the medical community and people around the world.
“In these historic times, the team at PlayStation wanted to thank the community by giving something back. These days, we could all use something to look forward to and another reason to stay safely socially distanced, so we are happy to be able to offer a free selection of great games and some entertainment offers.
“Last April, we launched the Play At Home initiative, offering up two incredible PlayStation games for free: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey*. I like to think they helped make the year just a little bit easier.
“This year, we wanted to go further. So we’ve designed a series of free games and entertainment offers for our PlayStation community to make the next few months a little more fun and enjoyable.
“This year’s Play at Home initiative is kicking off in March and extending through June.”
